Actividads!

So I have been in Ecuador for TWO weeks! Time is flying... I have been working in different orphanages everyday for the past two weeks but mostly I have been working with the special kids so far. They are so awesome! They love to go on walks and color and play games and have parties. They also really love you when you bring them candy.
Martin is fourteen years old and he has cerebal palsy. So he is bound to a wheel chair. But that DEFINITELY does not stop him from getting what he wants. He can communicate in English with the volunteers and spanish with the workers. It is amazing to watch. He actually does not ever say anything but he grunts and points and tries to say words. As a volunteer you will basically guess what he wants to do or what he is talking about. He would smile and nod his head when you get it right. He also enjoys bossing me around when we are in the casa and getting ready for bed or feeding or basically anything. He will scream at me if I do something wrong and make sure I am doing everything perfect. He is demanding. And awesome. I find that I can understand him more and more everyday.
All of the special kids I work with have their own way of communicating and getting what the need. It is amazing to see. I wish I had time to write something about all of them.

A couple of other things that I have been going on. We had a beach day and we drove three hours to go to the beach. It was the most gorgeous drive I have ever been on. The mountains were enormous and green with trees and grass that looked like carpet and little villages along the way. I tried to get pictures on the way there and back but they just do not do the drive justice. While we were driving we would be driving through clouds sometimes because we were so high in the mountains. Once we got to the ocean we took a boat ride over to a dingy little island where we spent the day. It was weird that it was raining and cloudy for most of the day but yet still warm. Megan and I were the only ones that really played in the ocean. We body surfed and filled our swimsuits with sand. It was fabulous.
Also some of the other girls and I decided to get hair wraps braided into the underneath of our hair. I got green, purple, and blue string with five different colored beads tied in at the bottom. Anyway. We had a hippy man and his lady partner braid our hair. She sang in my ear the whole time she braided my hair. It was cute. The man for some reason really took a liking to Megan and I. He talked to us and taught us spanish. He could speak VERY little english. So when he asked me if we could email back in Cuenca I assumed he was talking about my family and so I said yes. I later learned from my mother Lorena that he wanted my email address and I foolishly told him he could have it. He also gave me a metal flower thing that he had molded and said a flower for a flower. oh boy. Right before leaving to our boat he ran up to me and said Hey lady!! I tried to ignore him but he pushed his way through the other girls and gave me yet another molded flower and said the exact same thing. Lots of incidents with this man. He had an awesome laugh though. (I will have to get pictures off of Ashlies camera of him and his lady friend braiding our hair.)

Anyway.... I am off! I have so much happening that I can not even get near blogging about it all but I will try to keep up with it better!
