So we went to some ruins this past Thursday. It was awesome! You should google it to learn about it because it would take to long for me to type about it. We also stopped at a church that built into the side of a mountain! LIKE on Lord of the Rings. It was awesome. The inside of the Cathedral was so beautiful. The only creepy thing is that the basement is full of crypts kind of I guess you would call them. It is basically a hole in the wall where one slides the coffin in. And they are stacked on top of each other and in rows. With pictures of the deceased person. Roddy, my papa, thought it was really creepy. He did not stay in the rooms for very long. Although he did find humor in one picture of an old lady that looked bald and it also looked like they had taken the picture of her after she had died. I admit it did look funny.
Also. Our bus driver is an exact replica of Nacho Libre. It was awesome. When Mckenzi and I got our picture with him he was happy to pose in our photo. He just put his arm around me and smiled. Probably my favorite picture since I have been here. And he is just a little shorty so I am kind of slouched in this picture. So he is shorter than it even looks.
Anyway. All in all it was a really fun day. I enjoyed seeing the history of Ecuador and the people we got to see and meet.
Lots of people still live around the ruins. Which includes many many cholitas. We got to see them carrying sacks of potatoes on their backs, wash their clothes in the river, hoe their gardens, and much more. We also saw an either 98 or 107 year old woman. No one is sure of the age. But she was walking along a dirt path with a sack of potatoes on her back. She is nearly bent in half from age. And she charges you to take a picture with her. So we just snuck a picture as we were walking up. Yes. We are that good.
Oh and we also had a REALLY attractive tour guide that also smelled really good. Kenzi and I tried sneaking pictures of him all day.
