Swimming with Milagros!

So we got to take the special kids swimming! Yay! We brought up the idea and it was approved with no problems from the orphanage. It took us two full mornings to take all of the kids, but it was an awesome experience. I went with the Milagros house on Wednesday. And then a different group went with Esperanza today. We went to a place called BaƱos. It is a natural hot springs. But what was very unnatural about it was that it was in a cement swimming pool. And it was almost to hot to swim in. I was sweating the whole time, and it was cloudy outside. Oh and the water was green. And people use it as a pool to exercise in. But all in all it was a really fun day. The kids were so excited and loved it so much. It was about a forty minute drive and the kids loved looking out the window and just being able to get out. I had a lot of proud Mama moments that day. I felt like all of the kids were mine and it made me so happy to see that they were so happy.
On the drive there I sat by a little girl named Laura. She is so precious all of the time. But one of my {proud mama} moments happened when she was looking out the window and then she looked at me and smiled and reached over and grabbed my hand and held it for about ten minutes. All the while stroking my hand with her thumb. I could not stop smiling.
Also when we arrived to the Milagros house, Martin, our little bilingual was so excited that he could hardly sit still in his chair. But he made sure that we knew not to talk about it in the house because Brayan was not going so Martin did not want to make him feel bad. (Brayan just got out of surgery about a week and a half ago from getting a feeding tube. He still is not feeling very well so he has to stay inside to recover).
It was so fun to play in the water with the kids. I cannonballed over Martins head, which he loved. He also really enjoyed dunking his own head and then grabbing my head and dunking mine.
Blanca was so relaxed that she fell asleep in the water. And the whole ride on the way to the pool she could not stop smiling and shaking her arm because she was so excited. Folks, Blanca hardly ever smiles or laughs. So this is an accomplishment.
Pablo layed on the grass and enjoyed being outside.
Roman enjoyed just being in the water and doing what he does best, staring at people.
Louise latched on to one of our workers and wrapped his legs and arms around her for pretty much the whole time he was in the water. It was really funny.
Jorge liked floating around in his tubes and doing his usual thing, sucking on his hands or trying to suck on the tube.
Laura loved being in the water and playing with all of us girls. She would wrap her arms around our necks. Or just splash. It was so cute.
It was such a good day. We are going to try to make it possible for the special kids to go swimming more often as it is so good for their arms and legs to be able to move better and because the love it so much.
Alrighty. Ciao for now!
