Today I had a taxi driver that spoke english and talked to us the whole way home from church.
I had cheddar cheese. With crackers. Yummm. We do not get much of that here, but the new group brought some.
I counted my flee/bug bites. I have over twenty covering my body. And they itch. ALL THE TIME.
My feet have crazy tan lines from my chacos.
The swelling in my feet has gone down these past few days. Yay! (Swelling caused from bug bites)
I have found a cure for my nail biting problem. My hands are dirty ALL the time. So I am afraid to put my hands near my mouth.
I cut Megans hair and Mckenzies bangs. AND they look good.
The keyboard here is strange so I can not do correct punctuation.
I am always the last to bed. EVERY night.
I love the kids here more and more everyday. I am wondering how I am supposed to leave on a happy note.
Carlos (Our bus driver) and his wife and two adorable kids buy us Bon-Ice (Like Otter Pops, but WAY more juicy and delicious) every Saturday on our way to Remar. He also blasted Coldplay for us when the band made a strange appearance on our Radio on the way to the orphanages yesterday.
I watch Nacho Libre on my Ipod every night as I am falling asleep.
I Really like to eat Peanut Butter here, which is strange considering I do not even enjoy it very much at home.
Thomas, a little two year old deaf adorable boy, copied every face I made at shift all morning today. Including trying to go cross eyed and touch my tongue to my nose etc. And then he giggled at me for about ten minutes.
I have a bruise on my lower back from Louis, an Autistic teenage boy, who through the door open to the bathroom whilst I was helping another child go to the bathroom. The door knob was shoved into my back. Lucky Me. This little Louis is very violent sometimes. He can go from shoving me, to kissing me on the cheek ten times in a row.
I yearn for some nice clothing to wear. I miss my boots.
It is carnival this month of Feb here in Ecuador, which means the whole country is in a HUGE water fight. We can hardly even walk down the street without water balloons being thrown at us from passing vehicles or windows.
We had a water fight at Milagros the other day. One of the workers, Theresa, would throw buckets of water from the balcony all over us. Then when we ran up to get her she ran into the house and locked the door and told us through the window that we could soak her on Lunes when she could bring extra clothes. Which I am looking forward to immensley.
I actually have not bought very many souvenirs yet. I need to get on it!
I dreamed in Spanish last night. For part of my dream. Very strange experience.
I am starting to understand more and more spanish everyday. Now I just need to practice being able to respond.
hmmmm. I think that will be all for now. ciao!
Hope all is well in the States!
I think you should start a carnival month tradition here when you get back.
ReplyDeleteokay! I most definitely will. It is a blast. We even have a war starting between roomies. Of course my competitive nature puts me in the lead. But I also have many enemies.
